| About the Author and Artist Wilburn (Brandon) Leslie |
a photographer. I am foremost a Christian. Yes, I make mistakes like anyone else, but I am a realistic Christian. For most of my life, I merely was an artist in the visual sense. I have, in the past seven years been writing poetry and short stories. In the past two years or so I began work on a small novel which is entitled "Men of Shadows." It was no easy task for a novice writer taking baby steps in the literary world. I have since, had my book "Men of Shadows" published. I am a visionary and philosopher of sorts. Im currently working on some documentary films as well. I have a different outlook as to what most people do of the earth we inhabit. I do not see cotton candy and unicorns in this reality. I see realism at it's finest. We as people of all walks of life need to pull together and be a loving people. The world is in turmoil and there is much to do to reverse the effects we have brought upon our society. We are all a part of the problem and we should all give something of ourselves to help someone. I have written the book "Men of Shadows" in hopes of raising awareness of mental illnesses. I will be donating a large portion of my proceeds from the book, to NAMI the National Alliance of Mental Illnesses. My hopes are that others see the things I have had to overcome to write my first book. In truth it seemed like the world was against me from day one. I now look back with satisfaction. I see God has given me a talent an a purpose in life. It has only taken me twenty nine years to figure out. I challenge others to reach beyond what you think you can do and see what happens. I am not cured of my illnesses, but I have learned that the mountains I have had to climb, are teaching tools. So as you navigate through this site I hope you gather inspiration and hope within. Hope that God has a real and very important purpose for you. My next book and future books I hope to donate proceeds to other charities supporting other illnesses. I would like to donate proceeds to cancer foundations and heart disease research. Also diabetes and to any organization that helps elderly with medication expences. I hope my books help inspire others with any illness that isn't able to do normal activities. I hope they find their own nitch in life and feel good about the situation they are in. God never said life would be easy and if it were what reward would heaven be? Life is tough and we all go through hardships. Thing is it can be so much easier with God on your side and using yourself as a media for His great works. I also hope you will get a copy of "Men of Shadows" and enjoy it . . |
